Hi everyone

I was just sitting at work wondering if anyone has noticed the onset of SAD more quickly this winter, and whether the current economic climate may be contributing? I myself have been feeling a bit worse as we are worrying about money and Christmas at the moment, and the darkness outside doesnt seem to be helping with trying to keep my chin up! In short it feels like the whole winter is stretching ahead in one long, dark, cold and flat broke few months! I think it will be a bit of an ebay Christmas this year....

Hi Sleepybird,
I think most people will understand if you tell your family/friends not to spend too much on each otherif any at all. They will probably be gratefulyou mentioned it!

I do think stress does make SAD worse to be honest and it went from being very hot to being quite cold don't you think?

Hope you feel better soon

Donna :-)

I imagine depression can be made worse by money anxieties.

I do feel that the early onset of SAD this winter is probably more due to the number of dark days that we've had through the summer.

Maybe a satisfactory thing would be to spend on the kids rather than going all out on everyone. Everyone wants the children to have a lovely time.

I shall be considering carefully when catering for visitors to just buy what we need, rather than lots of items 'just in case'. Just in case what? In case nuclear war breaks out and we can't get to the shops for a day or two? I think not!

When you get visitors they often ask what they can bring to help. You know who those people will be, so have your answers ready - or if taken by surprise ask if you can check your list/menu and get back to them.
