I have a bit of a weird question. I was diagnosed with SAD a year ago and I'd like to start light therapy. Since I'm tight on cash right now, I'm looking for ways to save on a light.
Well, I work in event videography, and I happen to have a daylight balanced fluorescent light fixture. This mimics daylight, too, at least across the visible spectrum. Would this light work for light therapy? It would be great not to spend a lot on a new light when I already have one sitting around.
Here's one like I have: http://www.kinoflo.com/Lighting%20Fixtures/Diva-Lite/Diva-Lite.htm
I don't see why it wouldn't work as long as it's bright enough. The magic number seems to be 10,000 lux so if you have access to a light meter you could measure the output and compare with "real" SAD lights.
