Hi all,
I have just been diagnosed with sad,and already feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders!
I have suffered for 4 years, last year being the worst as i was unable to work for 3 months and myself and my husband seperated. We are now back together and i have been trying to hide my depression for the last 2 months from everyone around me, but finally opened up yesterday. I have been put on sertraline which i hope will agree with me as citalopram doesn't!
any advice for me? i am thinking of trying a light box too if anyone has any tips/advice it would be much appreciated!

Hi Claire

Your few words say it all! SAD can so often mean people cannot succeed in work and relationships.

I'm so glad you and your husband have another chance and that you are taking control of your depression.

Light therapy has changed my life; I manage my SAD very effectively with daily use of a light.

Good luck with it just bear in mind that light therapy often fails because people are not rigid enough in their routine (maybe buy a portable one or buy two e.g a mini version for work and travel).

I would second getting a portable. It's such a PITA having a trailing wire.

Hi Claire

I dont wish to alarm you but i was switched from citalopram to sertraline a couple of years back and i found them even worse.

Im off all Ssri's now and am having success with nutritional supplements and light therapy coupled with a good diet and plenty of fresh air.

PM me if you have specific questions about Ad's or nutritional supplements , in the meantime google vitamin D3 and l-trytophan in relation to helping with SAD as they have both helped me enormously.
