I have been using my Zip for the first time for just over a week now and am suffering from daily eyestrain and headaches. I note that in this case, it is best to build up the treatment slowly. Should I give it a complete break until the symptoms have gone and then build up the treatment slowly with the light at a greater distance away? I am keen to get the maximum benefit without any side effects. I am not sure what angle to have the Zip at as some angles make it very dull and others make it too bright. The benefit of others experiences would be much appreciated.

Hi Louise
I hope somebody can answer your question soon . As I am thinking about buying a Zip as I can't afford the bright spark or new light . Any advice on this product would be much appreciated from other users.
Best of luck x

I also would be interested to know if anyone has used the Zip, is it any good? It would be ideal for work, I just worry it might be too small.

I am into my second week of using the zip & because of headaches & eye strain when using it, I have doubled its distance away from me and ensured that it is not at too bright an angle. The symptoms are reducing and I still feel I am benefiting from its use. It is easier on the eyes when using it in a well lit room as the bright contrast of the zip is not so noticeable. I have just received really helpful telephone guidance from Lumie who have suggested I reduce the recommended half hour time to 10-15 minutes and increase the distance away from my eyes. My experience in these very early days of using it is that it does improve vitality, quality of sleep and mood but time will tell if this continues. The light is small but is extremely powerful and I don't feel the size compromises its effectiveness - I haven't used any other types so I cannot judge whether they may be better. The Zip lights are described as LED the same as the Boots LED light. Lumie have just reassured me that they do give a months trial and will refund or replace the light with a more suitable one providing they collect the light from you and it isn't damaged. I think there may be a handling charge though. In my experience, the more sensitive one is generally to everyday things and particularly to bright light, the less intense the initial treatment needs to be e.g. shorter duration and further distance away. It has been suggested that if my symptoms clear up and if I feel I am not benefiting enough from my current regime, then I can slowly & gradually increase the treatment time & shorten the distance away. I feel it really helps providing daylight deficiency is the root cause of the problem and it is more a question of whether the treatment itself it compatible with the user. I wish you all vitality, happiness and success and look forward to hearing how you all get on.

The LED SADlight sold in Boots is a Lumie product that we designed exclusively for them. Zip is a similar LED product that we sell directly to our customers. It's a little more powerful and also has a charger - oh, and it's a different colour!

Hope that helps,
