The Mental Health Foundation is an independent UK charity that conducts research into the mental health and well being of society. We have been commissioned by the Met Office Health Forecasting service to investigate how periods of excessively gloomy winter weather may affect peoples’ mood.
The research will take place between February and March 2010,and will occur in two stages. Firstly, we would like people to complete a short initial survey. This questionnaire will ask about how people feel during the winter. From this, we would like to recruit a selection of participants to complete a weekly questionnaire/diary over the course of four weeks. The aim is to document how people have been feeling over a period of time during the winter. People who participate in the second phase of the study will be paid(in shop vouchers) for their contribution.
Our research will be used to develop Health Forecasting services to support the emotional wellbeing of people who experience low mood during periods of gloomy weather. If you would like to participate or find outmore about the study, please contact:
