I was so pleased to discover this forum, ive felt totally
alone with sad, Ive had symptoms for many winters
but this season has been horrendous, i began to get
low and lethargic in november, by mid december i was
anxious having panic attacks, which continued in
serverity in january, until i went to the doctors, im
currently on antidepressents, betablockers, during the
winter i cant motivate myself to do housework, everything seems an endless struggle, I feel out of touch with life, when the sun puts in a rare apperance
i feel uplifted, but for the last few days its been rainy
grey and cold, the house is so dark despite having
lights on, i also get headaches trying to see in the dull
of the house. I am so glad to have found other people
who have the same problems with sad who i can share
experiences with, i no longer feel alone, which is the worst feeling of all.

So at moment i struggling im waiting to go see nurse to see what they can do for me but dont see it doing much. i would love to move to another country with all year round better weather, if this is not possible i will have to going away for two too 3 months a year but how im going to afford that i have no clue.

helo sharon, Im sorry you feel the same with sad, i
to have thought of moving to another country, some
where guaranteed nice bright weather, i find sad
returns in the summer if we have periods of dull dismal
weather, im sorry you cant take antidepressents, i find
they have helped slighty but dont raise my spirits like
the sun and longer days.
take care debbie

Sharon and Debbie, hi and welcome (I used to be a regular on here but don't go on as much now) I suffered SAD symptoms for 20 years not realising it was SAD. It was only after discovering this forum that I could make sense of it all. Get yourself a light box, they are expensive but they will change your life. If you do get one, do not take St Johns Wort as it can make you more light sensitive(not what you need when sitting in front of a really bright light!)

I've had quite debilitating SAD over the last few years, but this winter wasn't too bad. I think I'm getting better at tweaking my dose of antidepressants and also just managing the condition better. Learning what I can and can't cope with as well.

I now have a big SAD lamp that I use as an extra light source for the sewing work that I do at home. I'm hoping this will help the SAD in general.
