Have you being using your light?
Have you ever tried a ionizer? could you ever go on holidays for or before christmas to give you a lift?

I know you've probably heard this all before, but i've had my light for two years and have only used it sporatically, but this year as soon as the clocks go back i'll be using every morning !! Plus was thinking of getting an ionizer it's supposed to help.

I just read The Depression Cure, its good basic advise but it's defo worth a read.

Hope some of this helps !! :)

Happy Girl, I would recommend starting using the light now, why wait until the clocks go back. Apparently its so much better to use the lamp before you start feeling low.

I feel the difference as a rule just about the time of the autumn equinox. It varies a little depending on the weather, but is usually about that time I start to use my lamp. Earlier if I feel the need.

Many people seem to start experiencing symptoms long before the equinox....anytime from about 6 weeks after mid-summer onwards. There's a sinusoidal distribution of daylight....very little change in day length and light intensity from one day to the next at midsummer, but by the autumnal equinox daylight is reducing most rapidly. Onset of symptoms probably varies a bit depending on both daylight and other factors. The good news is that by the end of October, daylight isn't going to reduce all that much more!

It may be that the days don't get much shorter after the end of October but it certainly feels to me like November is the worst and bleakest month! I'm using my lightbox every morning and I'm not looking forward to the clocks going back.
How do you all manage to post at midnight? I'm in bed by 9 most nights and when it's dark by 4.30pm I suspect it'll be even earlier.

I don't always settle at night, at the moment I'm going to bed any time after 9.30. I'm also not getting up till about 8.30/9am.

Being up late in the summer is much easier. But I can only do it when my dh isn't around, as he generally needs more sleep than me - well in the summer he does, in winter I sleep for ever. Even when I wake up I feel incapable of moving.

Like you, PurpleIvy, it seems like I can sleep forever at this time of year. It's crazy - three weeks ago I was suffering from insomnia, and now I can't stay awake. I have just begun using my lightbox twice a day in the vague hope of staying awake in the evenings. Does anyone else do this?
