I would be interested in knowin how other people have found the use of body clocks and light boxes for the treatment of SAD ie have they helped, not really much effect etc.

I have purchased a body clock which I think has helped to some degree wondering about light boxes.

When I have to be up at a certain time I really find the dawn simulator helpful.

At times I've found my light box very helpful, but been rather slack about it this year. But it's been an easier year on the whole so far.

I have never used a light up until this year, but found the light has made a difference. I stopped using it over the xmas period and my sad has hit me like a ton of bricks this last few weeks. I am back to using my light again now and upped how long i use it for. I also use the dawn simulator and find it a nice way to wake in the morning.

I use both, but often sleep through the dawn simulator! The lightbox is the difference between struggling through and being signed off work for two months in the winter. If I miss a day of light therapy, I try to make up for it the next day. Two or three days without, and I'm not fit company for anyone.

Hi everyone.
I fond that the light box is my saviour. I wake easier when it is on (on a timer) and I am less grouchy when I have had my box.
I have to go to work each day and interact with colleagues and customers.
I do tell myself EVERY day that I am doing well and that I am over half way through the winter !!!!!!! I think we have to.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for your comments I think I will have to invest in a ligth box but it is nice to know that there is a good chance it will help before spending that sort of money. I too find that the dawn simulator on the body clock does not wake me up at all I still have to have the alarm on. It is however nice that the room is light when I finally manage to open my eyes rather than dark. I think it does make getting up that little bit easier. Anybody any thoughts on light box or the new desk lamp that Lumie do?

Hi again Petite

I've been using a light for about eight years, and a dawn simulator for seven. I know this is going to sound a bit evangelist, but honestly there are no two products that have had a bigger impact on my day-to-day life. How many products can you say that about? :)

I still have my original light, which I got through Tchibo, still the original bulbs too! I've recently bought a version of the Zip that Lumie makes for Boots (got my points to treat myself! :)). I was finding that I wasn't getting a long enough treatment when I was sitting having breakfast in front of my big light, so decided to have an additional light at work, which I think has helped me this year. I like that it's really small and portable, and I can just pop it back in my desk drawer when I've finished using it.

I have been spreading the word about dawn simulators too, so far my best friend and four of my colleagues have bought them and loved them. I keep the back-up beeper on, but I often wake a little before the alarm. Maybe it depends what stage of sleep you're in, or if you burrow under the covers, as I do! :)

As Lumie give you 30 days to try their lights, if it doesn't help you, you can always send it back. Let us know how you get on? :)

Hi Neen

Thanks for your comments it is useful to know. I will give serious consideration to purchasing either the lightbox or consider the desk lamp. I did not realise Boots did one although could only find lumie products on their web site. I will let you know at some point whether I do purchase one and how it goes

Hi Neens

Just to say you seem vey knowledgable and level headed - like reading your posts - also having seen your picture you remind me of a penfriend I write to down in the south of the country

I have not purchased a light box yet but am still bearing it in mind.

Keep you posted
