I just realised.... I used to smoke cannabis a lot, last winter, and it got to a point where I got really paranoid. I had a really bad experience with it New Years, and it left me depressed for the rest of the winter... the same feeling I get now.

Just wondered whether it might be a trigger? I know it can have a lot of psychological effects.... anyone had any bad experiences? Dunno.

Just a thought.

Joeybear.... My advice would be to keep away from cannabis in the future full stop.. I mean It still is an illegal drug and if they allow cigarates to be sold legally then you can imagine that the effects of cannabis must be much worse..

It is known that cannabis causes metal problems and these effects are common and these are things like depression and even schizophrenia... But if you are concerned about anything you shouldn't hessitate to contact your GP.

No no! I don't use it! I gave up last year when I got really depressed. I just wondered whether the paranoia and depression it caused, may be the reason for my SAD?

Yeah, it's illegal but hey F##k the law!

Seriously though I would agree that Cannabis does affect peoples mental health particularly if they are feeling vulnerable or feeling low to begin with. I think Old hippy might be the best one to advise on this one!

I have not heard of it being a catalyst for the onset of sad but I certainly know people who get paranoid or feel more depressed after using it a lot.

Hi Joeybear

Cannabis does produce some depression especially the skunk variities, the benifits are short lived with sad as its a depressive illness, so in theory it increases the effects of SAD.

Sorry to read about boyfriend problems, something you do not need, but keep smilling through this time in your life.

Remember you are in controll of your own life, no one else. Idenitfy the cause of your suffering and fight each little peace of it a little at a time.

You know in your own mind what is causing it, seeing it for what it is, nothing more then little sparks jumping around your mind. Be yourself and true to yourself.

SAD and the associated depression ripped my life apart, relatonships and all till I started not to fight it, but controll it through natural methods that are non addictive and non intrusive and it works for me...

Cannabis does produce some phycosis in some people with use which can be lasting but not perminant so I'm informed right or wrong.

But get controll of the depressive eposides and the sudden flashes of depression and fight the son of a bitch, Every problem has a cause and as such knowing the cause can be the road to opening your eyes to see yourself and the world.....

hi, i think i'm the personu need to talk to ,i wish i had someone to talk to when i went through exactly what u r about 8 years ago.i smoked dope for about 10 years the one day out of the blue sitting in my mums front room i felt like the world was caving in on me i started to panic ,heart pounding out my chest didnt know where i was thought i was going to lose mind there and then.stupid me didnt go to the doctor i just sat it out and it went .i stoped smoking it for a few weeks then went straight back to it and started smoking again during this time i was going through a court case for selling the stuff aswell which was causing some stress.in the long turm i do think it might have started my sad off or maybe it was there but hidden behind hazey dope filled brain,i guess i'll never know the answer to that 1,but bear dont worry about it cos it does pass ,just stop smoking it let it get out your system.your not going mad or going to die these thoughts and feeling r caused by the dope not u ,just chill give it a bit of time and it will pass trust me i been there.
