Please help. I have been diagnosed with SAD for 9 years now. Normally I get really depressed and want to shut myself away, not a day goes by without shedding some tears and I have no energy. This year though I am getting so angry, normally my temper stays hidden but this year I go mad at the silliest thing. Is this normal?? My temper has really scared me over the last couple of weeks and i don't seem to have any control! what is going on???? :?

Hello, I am pretty quick tempered anyway but this time of year I go on Prozac mainly because I turn into 'psycho man' ranting and getting really angry at the smallest things  . I expect this to be part of my pattern, maybe there is something going on in your life that you don't want to deal with but is pestering you? Have you changed your treatment regime? I normally have fantasies about beating people up and stamping on them this time of year so not very pleasant overall !

Hi Guys,
I feel worse this year too, hence I started citalopram back in September.
I have been "SAD" for about 6 years, but this is definitely my worse year yet despite the lightbox. Is it to do with the awful summer we had this year?
Last summer was beautiful and I didn't start getting symptoms 'til October last year. This year I started feeling miserable at the end of August!!
We can get through it together though!!

P.S. Hope the prozac is starting to kick in and give you that "lift" you need Siddy. :)

Snap (if you excuse the pun!)

I've been a really miserable grumpy bastard this year. I've become a Grumpy old man at 29! I was getting very uptight and snapping at my wife for the most trivial things that wouldn't normally bother me.

I think it is like the hibernation repsonse. Leave me alone and let me just curl up and go to sleep!
