-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone,
I believe I have suffered with SAD for a number of years (about 8) but it has worsened since having my two children.
I am fine in the summer but start to dread winter from about September and come spring I feel that a heavy burden has been lifted and feel so much happier. I also took a 2 hour walk over the park on our last sunny day and it got me through the next couple of days.
I find Christmas extremely stressful and feel as though I can't function or cope as well as everyone else around me.
My doctor is convinced I am suffering from post-natal depression but I feel that this has made my SAD worse (otherwise why would I feel much happier in the summer). She prescribed me with Lustral but after just 2 days I felt like a zombie with no will, motivation and just wanted to lie in bed all day. I took myself off it and am looking into getting a light box and taking my future sun hols in Feb rather than during the summer.
When I mentioned SAD to my doctor she didn't seem to take it very seriously and didn't think a lightbox would be the answer. However, I'd rather try something natural than strong medication which made me into something I never want to be again.
Grateful for anyone's stories, experiences with light therapy.
Lisa
