When can I expect to see results with Lumie Clear?
Everybody's different but, when used as recommended, you may see a difference within 4 weeks. Keep using Lumie Clear on each affected area and you should see excellent results in around 8 to 12 weeks. We offer a 30-day trial with Clear so please call the Lumie Careline within this period if you feel it's not working for you.

Do I need to use Lumie Clear every day?
Lumie Clear works best if you use it every day. Continued use is recommended as part of your normal skin care routine.

How long does it take?
It all depends whether you use Lumie Clear close to your skin or further away. For best results, use Lumie Clear up close, holding it right next to affected areas. Used like this, the recommended treatment time is 15 minutes a day. Remember to clean with an anti-bacterial wipe after each use.

If you prefer to use Lumie Clear further away - with it angled on the base unit so you can treat your shoulders, for example - then you will need to use it for an hour or so every day. You could split this into a number of short sessions if it's more convenient for you; the effects of light therapy are cumulative, so you'll still benefit.

For Lumie Clear to be effective, you must follow the distance/recommended treatment times as stated in the instruction booklet.

Is Lumie Clear a one spot treatment?
No. The minimum treatment area is about 60 x 35mm and applies when Lumie Clear is close to the affected skin. If you hold Lumie Clear further away, the treatment area increases as the light spreads.

When do I need to use the goggles?
Blue LEDs can be hazardous if you stare at them for a long time so we recommend that you use the goggles provided with Lumie Clear during treatment sessions where the light could shine in your eyes.

Will the treatment hurt?
No. Unlike lasers or other ablative treatments, Lumie Clear is non-thermal, non-ablative, non-invasive and will not hurt.

Is Lumie Clear light therapy treatment safe?
Yes. Light therapy has been used successfully in spas and dermatology clinics all over the world. Lumie Clear follows published research and is a safe and effective means to combat acne without burning or drying out your skin.There is no risk of tanning from Lumie Clear, in fact the levels of UV (ultraviolet) light emitted are considerably lower than the limits imposed by international guidelines. Lumie Clear is also safe to use during pregnancy.

Can I use my normal creams, cleansers etc.?
Yes. Lumie Clear can be used alone or with other skin care treatments though Lumie Clear is intended to be a natural treatment and a replacement for creams and medications. As your acne improves with Lumie Clear, other acne treatments could be gradually reduced or stopped. This should be under the direction of your doctor if they have been prescribed.

People taking medication such as roaccutane should consult their GP or dermatologist before using Lumie Clear. Other medication, such as isotretinoin and topical retinoids, can cause the skin to react with light. If you are taking medication that might have this type of side effect (referred to as photosensitivity), please consult your doctor before using Lumie Clear.

Will Lumie Clear work on any part of my body?
Yes. Lumie Clear can be applied to any part of the body affected by acne.

Does Lumie Clear work for any skin type?
Yes. LED light therapy is proven to work on all skin types.

If it's going to an address in mainland UK or Northern Ireland then we'll take care of the delivery costs.

All light therapy products are sent by courier on a standard service (delivery within three working days). We'll email to let you know when it's on the way and include tracking information. Small items like bulbs are sent using Royal Mail First Class post.

If we receive your order during office hours it will usually be dispatched the same day, maybe the next working day if we're busy, so please allow four working days for your order to arrive.

Need it fast?

Choose Express Delivery when you checkout and pay £6 for courier delivery the next working day.

If we receive your order during office hours it will leave the same day and be with you the next working day; please don't leave it until late in the day to order as our couriers usually collect around 4pm. If you really do need it quickly and want to be sure, it's best to give us a ring.

These delivery times apply to the UK mainland and Northern Ireland. Deliveries to some areas such as the islands of Scotland, Scilly Isles, Isle of Man and Channel Islands may take a little longer.

Returns and our 30-day Home Trial

Our 30-day Home Trial  gives you the chance to try Lumie Clear for yourself and make sure that it's right for you. This is one of the big advantages of buying direct from Lumie.

• 30-day Home Trial is available in the UK only.
• If at any time up to 30 days from the date of delivery you decide to return something, please contact us first.
• If a unit is returned scratched or damaged we will tell you what the problem is and may have to charge for any repair at a cost of £20/hour plus materials. We will not charge for minor problems.
• The unit should be returned in its original packing if possible.
• This does not affect your statutory rights.

Most people notice an improvement in their symptoms after about 3 weeks, so please give us a call if you feel that Lumie Clear isn't having an effect and we'll try to help. It is your responsibility to pay for and return it - we recommend Recorded Delivery to be on the safe side. As soon as we receive it we will refund your money less a £20 re-stocking fee. We do not refund express delivery charges.

Cancellation

By law, you also have a 'cooling-off' period, the right to cancel any purchase and receive a full refund by e-mailing or writing to us up to seven working days the day after you receive it. To return any item, please send it securely - the original packaging is best if you have it - to our usual address. Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us.

My 12 year old daughter has moderate acne; this is complicated by hypertrophic (raised) scarring. The Lumie Clear only has a small pool of light, is time-consuming - she spends an hour a day - and does take a while to work but it does work. She started at the end of October 2011, there was a definite difference by Christmas. Her forehead was like a map of the moon and is now smooth although her temples, where she's actually been using it against her skin, are still not great. She does have a break out every so often but it's under control.

I have been using Lumie Clear every night for the last few months and have noticed my spots are not as aggravated as before and the redness has reduced. Also the break out of spots around my jaw line as decreased. I think this product is great for mild to moderately suffering acne users, as long as it is used religiously every day for atleast 3 months. Results take time to show, but eventually it is worth while. The product is also very easy to use.

I have been using Lumie Clear every night for several months now and unfortunately I haven't seen any significant differences to my skin. I've found after a period of time it can make your skin feel smoother but it doesn't help redness. I think this lamp is more effective for mild acne but even though it didn't have a huge effect on my skin I think for anyone thinking about purchasing it, it is worth a try if you are dedicated.

If you have tried the contraceptive pill, over the counter products, antibiotics, retinoid creams and still have not achieved the results you are after, then Lumie might be right move for you. For those of you who suffer from a more severe type of acne, you might want to try to combine these other methods with Lumie. From my experience I can tell you Lumie is not going to work overnight and may even bring on more spots in the course of the first four weeks. But it was worth persevering as my skin improved dramatically. It did not stop occasional outbreaks. I did have spots while using Lumie, even after 6 weeks, but it limited the spread of them throughout my face, and the overall quality of my skin dramatically improved. After 8 weeks of use, my skin now feels smoother, looks younger and I have a brighter complexion. I now have a much more even skin tone and so spots do not need as much hiding; they only appear as tiny blemishes on an otherwise flawless complexion. This is truly a remarkable product, but beware, if you are not consistent you will not get results. You have to be willing to take the time necessary every day to get results. EVERYDAY. I cannot stress this enough. If you cannot or will not put that much dedication into it, do not even bother with Lumie.

This product probably did make a difference for me, albeit slowly. During the first month I experienced a slight worsening of my skin but after consultation with the friendly staff at Lumie, I had my home trial extended by a further month. By this time, my skin had improved. I have continued to use the treatment on an ad hoc basis when my skin requires it. It is a nice change from oral or cream treatments so well worth a try. My advice would be to make the purchase and use the home trial to see how it goes. Then stick with the treatment, even if you notice a slight deterioration early on.

I've been using the lamp for less than a week so I can't account for its effectiveness or promise to clear your acne longterm but I will say that it is very easy to use. It arrived promptly and well packaged. I will update!

Unfortunately this product didn't work for me. I used it every evening for the trial period, and found it a nice warm experience, but there was no improvement in my skin. I called lumie to arrange a return and was offered an additional month trial which I took up. However, there was still no change in my skin. Lumie then took the product back without any fuss, which is top class customer service!

I used Lumie Clear on my chest during my pregnancy as I was looking for an alternative to prescription drugs. It improved very much the acne I had in this area. I still get some spots just before my period, but I am satisfied with the results I have achieved compared to creams and prescription drugs. I have used them in the past and the results are either short term or the side effects too strong. In my case the 30-day trial did give me an indication of whether it was going to work or not as I saw quite an improvement during that time, but I am only aware of these things being very particular to each individual, so this is my personal experience and worth a try if you can afford it.

I don't really know why this is advertised as a 30 day trial if it really takes 3 months to see an improvement. I tried it for 30 days and didn't feel it was helping me, my skin was made worse than it originally had been.I called in to the help line and was told I really needed to give it 3 months. In good faith I did. The Lumie clear gave me spots in places I hadn't had in years. I stopped using it at 10 weeks and my skin is still recovering from the last two months of outbreaks. Clearly it works for some people. It didn't work for me. I'm 46 and never had acne until I was in my 30's.

I have been using Lumie Clear on and off since Xmas 2010 and have found that if used daily for 15 minutes that it does work. I am 36 and get acne (large red boil-like spots) mainly round my jawline. When using Lumie regularly, any spots that are in the process of appearing seem to heal a lot faster - they are not as raised or red meaning that they are easier to conceal with make up. In fact when my mum enquired what the lumie device was for she seemed surprised that I needed it. When I first started using the device it took a good 12 weeks for a significant change in my skin to be noticed by me, so I would say that if you start this treatment to stick with it. When I stop using the Lumie clear for say a week or more, the spots do get worse, but it only takes a couple of weeks of re-using it for results to start again. For me the Lumie clear is a life saver as my skin problems do get me down...I thought that by the time I reached my thirties acne would have been a thing of the past. Thank you Lumie!

this actually made my acne worst. I says that by 3 months it should of cleared up, so i waited 2 months for my skin to get clear, which means i couldnt return it and get my money back (because its only a 30 day home trial) such a waste of money. >:(

Before using Lumie Clear I was constantly suffering from flare-ups of acne or (as a result of treating the acne) eczema/contact dermatitis. Three weeks in, my skin is completely clear. Since starting treatment I had no new spots and have even been able to wash my face with just warm water and a fresh cotton pad. Before Lumie Clear this would not have been an option - I had to use cleanser twice per day in order to keep the spots under control, even though my sensitive skin meant that even the gentlest cleansers resulted in itching and redness. Although the unit itself is costly, its effectiveness totally justifies the price for me (especially now that I'm not spending £60+ per year on facewash). If I lost/broke my Lumie Clear I would definitely buy another as soon as I could afford it, although I worked out that at half an hour per day the lifespan on the LEDs should be 54.5 years so it should hopefully last until my skin calms down! If you have mild acne and half an hour per day (max) to devote to treating it, I really do recommend Lumie Clear. I was really sceptical at first but the 30 day trial (and my blessed mother's insistence) persuaded me to give it a try, and I'm really glad I did!
