A Revival Yoga Flow with Bex Parker Smith

A Revival Yoga Flow with Bex Parker Smith
Welcome to the third instalment of our Wellness Wednesday Series. Every Wednesday throughout January, we will be exploring a different wellness topic to help kickstart your New Year. Our focus this week is ‘Movement’ and today we’re joined by Bex Parker Smith for a yoga flow on the theme of Revival.

Ah January, the month when we’re encouraged by society to join the gym, up the tempo and do ALL the workouts in an attempt to “undo” the indulgence of the festive period. If you (like us) are not a fan of the ‘New Year, New Me’ mindset, then you’re in the right place. This week we’re encouraging you to move your body in a way that brings you joy; whether that’s a short lunch time walk, some light stretches or a restorative yoga class.

This Wellness Wednesday, we’re joined by Bex Parker Smith, a yoga teacher & writer based in East London, who knows first-hand the wellbeing benefits that mindful movement can offer.

Bex is certainly no stranger to Lumie! You may recognise her from our Lumie Story Series, featuring three incredible individuals who use our SAD and wake-up lights to illuminate their daily lives. Alongside her yoga teaching, Bex writes about living with mental illness, sharing her honest (and sometimes hilarious) experiences of OCD and clinical depression on social media and online. She also writes poetry and has just completed her first novel, too.

It was in recovery for an eating disorder that Bex first found yoga and began to settle into herself, and it was this homecoming that inspired her to take her first yoga teacher training in 2019. She has since completed over four hundred additional hours of study and remains inspired by how the practice encourages us to show up as ourselves. To this day, Bex remains a dedicated student of yoga, and still sees her time on the mat as an arrival home.

Embracing this theme of joyful movement, Bex is here to give us all a little mid-week boost with an energising revival flow. This short session is perfect if you’re feeling a little bit stagnant and lacking energy at this point in January. It’s equally great to do even if it’s not January, and it will live on our Instagram for whenever you need it.

We’d love for you to take 15 minutes for yourself and join Bex’s Revival Flow. Click below to watch in full.

We’d love to know if you’ve joined in! So, please tag us @lumie.lights and @yogabexy on Instagram! If you enjoyed this flow, Bex teaches classes all over London and offers sessions online too. Stay tuned for the final Wellness Wednesday next week, where we will be exploring the theme of ‘Nourishment’ with Sophia Hill Nutrition.
